Sustainable and organic farming development
For 30 years, Domaine de I’Evechehas been using organic farming method in the growing of their most natural and high quality grapes without pesticide or insecticide. Mercurey Les Murgers Blanc 2017 belongs to the Appellations Villages. The winery has 12.5 hectares of lands and among them 3 hectares are Mercurey productions.
More than 300 years of history
Founded in the 17th century, the winery was owned by Bishop Gabriel de Roquette who also had a castle and winery in Saint Denis de Vaux.In October 1689, he appointed the winemaker Philibert Chaumont and his son Jean Philibert and Antoine to run the vineyard business.
In the mid 19th century, part of the vineyard was used to grow apple and pear. Vincent Joussier, who later thought that there’s a lot of potential in the vineyard redesigned it and started to grow grapes again. He also purchased the winery in 1985 and since then the Joussier family has been running the 125,000 square meters manor in Cote Chalonaise
